Presenting an imaginative local workspace.

Project Details

Concept

Butterfly Gardens is a low-density workspace guided by principles of sustainability, responsible development and quality of life. It is inspired by the Rancho neighborhood of Burbank.

The project features private indoor/outdoor areas to connect the workspace to nature, and a multi-purpose area for tenants to meet, network, eat, and relax.

The workspaces are intended for occupancy by local creatives, artists and community members. Butterfly Gardens is designed to inspire creativity and promote well-being.

Architecture

The inspiration for Butterfly Gardens originates with the land and neighborhood. We believe that the history of a place should inform the elements of any new project.

Our goal is to give meaning to the project by utilizing these elements through abstraction. Through this process we can discover a cohesive and rational way to design a new building for modern day purposes, while at the same time referencing the very same elements that link it back to its community roots.

We hope to create local neighborhood workspaces that allow for creativity, peace, calm and efficiency.

Landscape

The Butterfly Gardens concept is rooted in a connection to nature. The landscape is an integral element of the design and is inspired by the site’s context and location.

The use of native plantings and organic materials create a sustainable environment and sense of place.

We present the look and feel of the landscape in the following preliminary conceptualizations.
